LINCOLN, Neb. — Congressman Jeff Fortenberry is encouraging people to participate in the Holiday Mail for Heroes program.
Last year, the program helped deliver more than 600,000 holiday cards to troops recovering in military hospitals. This year, the effort is expanded to all members of the armed forces, veterans and families. The program hopes to gather more than 1 million cards.
Cards should be addressed and mailed to: Holiday Mail for Heroes, P.O. Box 5456, Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456
All cards must be postmarked by Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008. More information on what can and can’t be included is available online at http://www.redcross.org/email/saf/index.asp.
The program is a joint effort of the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes Inc.
