COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Wreckage of an Army Black Hawk helicopter that crashed in a field at Texas A&M is expected to remain at the site into the weekend.
Investigators from Fort Rucker, Ala., have arrived for the inquiry into Monday’s crash that killed a recent A&M graduate and left four other soldiers injured.
The Bryan-College Station Eagle, in its online edition Thursday, reported the wreckage eventually will be moved to the Austin Aviation Support Facility, where the UH-60 was based.
Some parts will be taken to the Corpus Christi Army Depot for testing.
Chief Master Sgt. Gonda Moncada of the Texas National Guard says the investigation could take up to a year.
The crash killed 2nd Lt. Zachary Cook. Moncada says some of the four survivors required surgery, but all are expected to recover.
Classes resume Tuesday following the winter break.
