Officer promotion update

Colonel

• Army Category: Promotions off the 2008 Army Competitive Category lists began in January. They are distributed by the functional groups (Maneuver, Fires and Effects; Operational Support; and Force Sustainment) of the Officer Personnel Management System.

• JAG Corps: April promotions completed the 2007 list. The 2008 list was released Nov. 13 and is pending Senate confirmation.

• Chaplain Corps: July promotions began the June 2007 list. The 2008 list was released in September.

• Medical Corps: Promotions are being made from the 2007 list.

• Dental Corps: Promotions are being made from the 2007 list.

• Medical Service Corps: January promotions began the 2008 list.

• Medical Specialist Corps: January promotions completed the 2008 list; the 2009 list is pending release.

• Veterinary Corps: Promotions are being made from the 2008 list.

• Nurse Corps: Promotions are being made from the 2008 list.

Lieutenant Colonel

• Army Category: Promotions are being made from the 2008 lists and distributed by the three functional categories of the revised Officer Personnel Management System. The 2009 board meets Feb. 18-March 13.

• JAG Corps: Results of the 2008 board were released Nov. 13 and are pending Senate confirmation.
