Buried together

The Army does group burials when some of the remains of soldiers who are known to have died together cannot be individually identified. Seven group burials have taken place at Arlington National Cemetery and one at Indiantown Gap, Pa., since the beginning of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Two 10th Mountain Division soldiers were abducted in an ambush May 12, 2007, southwest of Baghdad. Their remains were found July 8, 2008, near the attack site and returned to their families. Some commingled remains were buried Feb. 17, 2009, at Arlington.

Five infantrymen from the Pennsylvania National Guard were killed on Sept. 28, 2005, near Ramadi, Iraq, when a bomb exploded near their Bradley vehicle, then was attacked by small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades. Their commingled remains were buried at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa., on Feb. 4, 2006.
