3,000 to move up in NCO ranks
Posted : Thursday Mar 26, 2009 12:44:24 EDT
There will be more than 3,000 noncommissioned officer promotions in the active component in April, including an initial increment of advancements off the new 9,400-name sergeant first class list.
April sequence numbers and cutoff scores issued by the Army in late-March authorize 10 promotions to sergeant major, 105 to master sergeant, 528 to sergeant first class, 666 to staff sergeant and 1,738 to sergeant.
The E-7 promotions will come from the new E-7 list that was compiled by a board that met in February and that screened the personnel files of nearly 33,000 staff sergeants.
The overall select rate for the Regular Army board was 28.7 percent (32,849 considered, 9,430 selected), while the pickup rate for soldiers who receive their first primary zone consideration for E-7 was 29.3 percent, the same as in 2008.
The select rate for soldiers in the secondary zone was 31.6 percent (12,156 considered, 3,841 selected), an improvement over last year’s rate of 27.4 percent.
