Bragg conference focuses on spouses

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — A two-day conference is being held at Fort Bragg to celebrate the contributions of military spouses.

The Army base will open the conference Thursday with a day of workshops on topics ranging from gardening to self-defense. On Friday, spouses will engage in outdoor physical training and airborne operations.

Bragg is home to the 18th Airborne Corps and the 82nd Airborne Division, along with airborne Special Operations units that include the Green Berets.

Volunteer services coordinator Cathy Mansfield said the purpose of the day is to give spouses an outlet for relaxation and fun without agencies and organizations trying to sell them anything.
