O-5 chaplain selections released

Nearly 40 chaplains of the active component have been recommended for promotion to lieutenant colonel by a board that met in February.

A nomination list containing the names of the selected officers has been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation, a review and voting process that normally takes several weeks.

Selection rates for the annual board were 53 percent for the primary zone (51 considered, 27 selected), 20 percent for the above zone category (55 considered, 11 selected) and 2 percent for below-zone candidates (55 considered, one selected).

Chaplain Corps promotions to lieutenant colonel currently are being made from the 44-name 2008 list. After June promotions are executed, two names will remain on the list.
