July 2009 officer promotion update

Colonel

• Army Category

Promotions off the 2008 Army Competitive Category lists began in January. They are distributed by the functional groups (Maneuver, Fires and Effects; Operational Support, and Force Sustainment) of the Officer Personnel Management System. The 2009 convened July 7, and is projected to adjourn July 24.

• JAG Corps

May promotions completed the 2008 list. The 2009 board meets Aug. 11-13.

• Chaplain Corps

August promotions will come from the 2008 list. The 2009 board met June 2-4. The list is pending release and Senate confirmation.

• Medical Corps

The 2007 list is being used for promotions.

• Dental Corps

The 2007 list is being used for promotions.

• Medical Service Corps

The 2008 list is being used for promotions.

• Medical Specialist Corps

January promotions completed the 2008 list. The 2009 board met July 7-14.

• Veterinary Corps

April promotions completed the 2008 list. The 2009 board met July 7-14.

• Nurse Corps

Promotions are being made from the 2008 list.

Lieutenant Colonel

• Army Category

August promotions will complete the 2008 lists. New lists containing names of 682 Maneuver, Fires and Effects; 323 Operational Support and 299 Force Sustainment officers are pending Senate confirmation.

• JAG Corps

The 2009 list was completed in May. The next board meets April 13-16, 2010.

• Chaplain Corps

A new list containing 39 names is pending Senate confirmation.

• Medical Corps

Promotions will be made from the 2008 list. The 2009 list that was released June 16 requires Senate conformation.

• Dental Corps

Promotions will be made from the 2008 list. The 2009 list that was released June 16 requires Senate confirmation.

• Medical Service Corps

The 107-name lists compiled by board that met in March is pending Senate confirmation.

• Medical Specialist Corps

The 11-name list compiled by a board that met in March is pending Senate confirmation.

• Veterinary Corps

The 15-name list compiled by a board that met in March is pending Senate confirmation.

• Nurse Corps

The 70-name list compiled by a board that met in March is pending Senate confirmation.

The 2009 lists containing the names of 965 Maneuver, Fires and Effects; 501 Operational Support, and 585 Force Sustainment officers are pending Senate confirmation.
