Foreign soldiers can again get Berets at Bragg
Posted : Wednesday Oct 14, 2009 15:05:57 EDT
FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Soldiers from foreign militaries are again eligible to earn the Green Beret at a North Carolina training center.
International soldiers had taken part in the Special Forces Qualification Course since the early 1960s, but in 2005 the JFK Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg created a separate International Special Forces Training Course.
Starting in January, six international officers and six international sergeants will again train as part of the same course and will be required to meet the same standards as American soldiers. Officials say having allied soldiers in the course will enhance relationships and reinforce communications.
