N.C.-based reservists die in Afghanistan

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense said Monday that Pfc. Alan H. Newton Jr. of Asheboro and Capt. Benjamin A. Sklaver of Medford, Mass., died Oct. 2 in Murcheh, Afghanistan.
The department says the soldiers were killed by a suicide bomber.
Newton, 26, and Sklaver, 32, were assigned to the 422nd Civil Affairs Battalion, Greensboro.
The department says the incident is under investigation.
