FORT RILEY, Kan. — The Army plans to activate four new units at Fort Riley and convert another, resulting in an increase of soldiers at the Kansas post.
An Army spokesman at the Pentagon says the moves are part of previously announced efforts to restructure units at Fort Riley and to increase the size of the overall force. Details were announced Tuesday.
Units to be activated are the 3rd Engineer Battalion, 538th Engineer Company, 510th Engineer Team and 10th Engineer Team. In addition, the 1st Ordnance Support Maintenance Company will undergo a conversion in its composition.
A series of changes taking place at Fort Riley through 2011 will raise the soldier population to more than 18,500.
