Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced in mid-October that the president has made these nominations:

• Brig. Gen. Mark S. Bowman for appointment to major general. Bowman is director of architecture, operations, networks and space, Office of the Chief Information Officer/G-6, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

• Brig. Gen. Robert B. Brown for appointment to major general. Brown is deputy commanding general (support), 25th Infantry Division/Multi-National Division-North, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq.
