FORT CARSON, Colo. — Dozens of Fort Carson soldiers are set to start deploying this week to Afghanistan and Iraq.
The Army post held a flag casing ceremony for them Monday, signifying that the troops are ready for battle.
Lt. Col. Thomas Rivard says 280 soldiers from the 43rd Sustainment Brigade's 60th Ordnance Company and the 68th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion are heading overseas for one-year deployments.
Their mission centers on supply, transportation and maintenance.
There are about 5,000 soldiers from Fort Carson deployed in war zones.
