676 officer promotions for December
Posted : Friday Nov 13, 2009 10:52:43 EST
There will be 676 officer promotions for the active component in December, including a final increment of advancements off the 2008 colonel lists for the Army Competitive Category.
The monthly promotion plan developed by the Office of the G1 in mid-November authorizes 128 advancements to the chief warrant officer ranks, and 54 to colonel, 128 to lieutenant colonel, 352 to major and 14 to captain for all branches and corps.
Within the Army Competitive Category, there will be 50 promotions to colonel: 24 for the Maneuver, Fires and Effects functional group, 13 for Operations Support and 13 for Force Sustainment.
These promotions, scheduled for Dec. 1, will complete the 2008 lists used for the first time in January.
New lists for the Army category were released Oct. 29 and are pending Senate confirmation.
Barring an unexpected delay, these lists should be available for January promotions.
The December plan also authorizes 109 Army category promotions to lieutenant colonel, and 345 to major.
ACC advancements to captain have been on hold since October when the 4,200-name list for 2009 was completed.
The fiscal 2010 board meets Dec. 3-16, with year group 2007 officers comprising a bulk of the promotion candidates.
First lieutenants selected by the board can expect to pin on captain tracks when they reach three years of commissioned service.
Within the Warrant Officer Corps, there will be eight promotions to chief warrant office five, four each for aviators and technicians.
Forty promotions are authorized for CW4, seven going to aviators, and 35 to technicians.
The CW3 authorization totals 78, with 28 going to aviators, and 50 to technicians.
