Applications due soon for test pilot training
Posted : Saturday Nov 14, 2009 8:18:12 EST
Commissioned and warrant officer pilots who want to fly on the edge have until Jan. 18 to submit an application for the 2010 Experimental Test Pilot Training Program.
Officers selected for the training will attend an 11-month course at the Naval Test Pilot School, Patuxent River, Md.
Branch commissioned officers who are selected will be transferred from their basic branch to the Army Acquisition Corps, and they will remain in that status for the remainder of their careers.
Applicants must be active-duty Army Competitive Category-rated aviators in the ranks of captain or chief warrant officer and have academic backgrounds that include college math, science and engineering courses with above-average grades.
Applications must include an official college transcript, an updated DA Form 759 (individual flight record and flight certificate), and endorsements from a standardization instructor pilot and other aviation officials regarding the applicant’s flying ability and operational experience.
Selections will be made by a board that meets Feb. 15 at the Human Resources Command.
Officers who participate in this program incur a four-year active-duty service obligation.
