An extreme makeover for home of Miss. guardsman

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The Hattiesburg home of a National Guard soldier, now serving in his second tour in Iraq, has been of chosen for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
Officials on Thursday announced the selection of the Sherman Heathcock family for the building blitz.
Host Ty Pennington and his design team arrived Thursday and surprised the family.
The show will work with builder David Thompson of AAA Homes of MS to recruit and lead a team of volunteers to build a new home is less than a week.
Heathcock’s wife and three children were sent off for a week’s vacation at Disney World.
Since Hurricane Katrina sent three large trees crashing down on their home, officials say the Heathcocks have struggled to make repairs on the house they have lived in for nearly 20 years.
