Master sergeant boards out next week

Results of the Regular Army master sergeant board that met in October and November will be released Jan. 12.
The basic zone of consideration included about 20,000 sergeants first class with dates of rank of Oct. 14, 2007, and earlier, and service entry dates of Oct. 15, 1984, through Oct. 15, 2001.
Promotions off the new list can begin as soon as scheduled by the Army, although 833 names remain on the 2009 E-8 list.
During the past year, promotions to master sergeant averaged 195 per month.
Army personnel officials expect the monthly average will increase slightly to 202 in 2010.
