Combined Arms Center opens writing contest
Posted : Monday Feb 22, 2010 17:06:59 EST
The Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kan., is holding an Army-wide writing contest. Soldiers will compete for a first prize of $1,000.
The essay should address ways home-station training can be improved. HST is the training soldiers receive while at the place they spend the majority of their time, whether it is Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, or Fort Bragg, N.C.
The essay should be 3,500 to 5,000 words in length and be well researched. Essays should avoid using excessive acronyms or jargon, contribute well-thought-out opinions and be thoroughly footnoted.
There are also cash prizes available to second-, third- and fourth-place winners, as well as honorable mention selections. The first prize includes publication in Military Review magazine.
More information can be found on the Combined Arms Center Web site.
