About 350 officers will move up in March

Nearly 350 promotions to the ranks of chief warrant officer through colonel will be authorized for March in orders to be issued by Human Resources Command in late February.

The monthly forecast would be considerably larger if new Army Competitive Category lists for major and captain were available.

A new ACC captain list, compiled by a board that met in December, is pending release and can be used for promotions as soon as scheduled by the Army.

The new captain list does not require Senate confirmation.

Most officers on the new list can expect to be promoted upon reaching slightly more than three years of service.

The 2009 ACC lists for major were completed in January, which means there will not be any basic-branch advancements to that rank until results of the 2010 board that meets March 2-19 are released and confirmed.

Also pending release or Senate confirmation are new lieutenant colonel and major lists for the Medical Service Corps, Medical Specialist Corps, Veterinary Corps and Nurse Corps.

The March promotion plan for the active component calls for these advancements:

Colonel: 62 for all branches and corps.

• Lieutenant colonel: 126.

• Major: 10.

• Captain: 18.

• Chief warrant officer grades: 127.
