Reserve CSM to be sworn in

Staff report
Posted : Wednesday Mar 10, 2010 15:27:23 EST

The Army Reserve’s new command sergeant major will be sworn in March 16 during a ceremony at the Pentagon.

Command Sgt. Maj. Michael D. Schultz will serve as the component’s 11th top enlisted soldier. He will be sworn in by Lt. Gen. Jack Stultz, chief of the Army Reserve.

In his capacity as Stultz’s adviser on all enlisted matters, Schultz will represent the interests of more than 150,000 enlisted soldiers.

Schultz has deployed three times since Sept. 11, 2001, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. He replaces Command Sgt. Maj. Leon Caffie, who retired after almost 40 years in uniform.

“I selected Command Sergeant Major Schultz because I knew he was the right choice to be the command sergeant major for the Army Reserve,” Stultz said in a statement. “He brings with him a wealth of experience, education and leadership ability, as well as the spirit of a combat-tested warrior.”
