Thirty-one Eagle Scouts have been awarded four-year Army ROTC scholarships worth nearly $3 million by the service’s Cadet Command.

Maj. Gen. Arthur M. Bartell, Cadet Command CG, is scheduled to meet with these and other scholarship scouts Wednesday at the National Boy Scout Jamboree, Fort A. P. Hill, Va.

The four-year scholarships, valued at $2.8 million, will be applied at 27 colleges and universities in 14 states during the upcoming school year.

All total, the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps will award scholarships worth more than $ 9 million to 436 scouts who will enter college this year as freshman.

Army ROTC is the Army most productive commissioning program, accounting for 60 percent of the service’s new lieutenants each year.

The program is available at 273 host institutions and 1,100 affiliated schools.
