Campbell officer killed in Kandahar province

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. — The military said Friday that a Fort Campbell soldier died after he was struck by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.

According to the Defense Department, 1st Lt. Todd W. Weaver, 26, of Hampton, Va., died Thursday in Kandahar province. He was an infantry officer assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.

Weaver joined the Army in October 2006 and came to Fort Campbell in April 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Louise Elizabeth Weaver, of Clarksville, Tenn.; a daughter, Kiley Honoria Nell Weaver, of Clarksville; and his parents, Don A. and Jeanne N. Weaver, both of Hampton, Va.
