FORT CARSON, Colo. — Fort Carson is opening an outdoor training area to teach soldiers how to evacuate wounded comrades while under fire.

The Medical Simulations Training Center will be formally launched on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

It includes an observation tower, walled courtyards and other features.

Fort Carson says about 3,000 soldiers are expected to train at the center over the next year.
