Army releases cutoff scores for January

Cutoff scores and senior NCO sequence numbers released by the Army on Thursday authorize nearly 3,600 promotions to the ranks of sergeant through sergeant major for active component soldiers Jan. 1.

Within the senior ranks there will be 89 advancements to sergeant major, 312 to master sergeant and 578 to sergeant first class.

January 2011 cutoff scores

The sergeant major promotions will reduce the April 2010 E-9 list to 400 names.

There will be 312 promotions to master sergeant, all going to soldiers on the October 2009 E-8 list. After Jan. 1, 771 names will remain on that roster.

The sergeant first class promotions, totaling 578, will reduce the February 2010 list to 1,674 names.

January cutoff scores authorize 877 promotions to staff sergeant, and 1,731 to sergeant.

These promotions will go to soldiers in an Army-wide pool of 22,719 promotable sergeants, and 22,748 promotable specialists and corporals.
