Knox’s post newspaper undergoes name change

FORT KNOX, Ky. — It's been known as the Turret for 63 years, but Thursday will be the last day the Fort Knox weekly newspaper is published under that name.

The newspaper will be renamed The Gold Standard on Feb. 16, and it will include different fonts, information graphics to provide quick access to facts contained in stories, a seven-day weather forecast in full color and a front-page column bar with key installation announcements.

The newspaper's new website will go live on Feb. 16.

The name change follows a survey conducted last fall after the Army Armor Center and School moved to Fort Benning, Ga. The Turret was named to reflect the installation's armor training mission.

The post says most people responding to the survey favored a change.
