Local police are investigating the death of a 44-year-old soldier who was found unresponsive in her home near Fort Hood, Texas, on Feb. 6.

Officers arrived at the home late that evening in response to a call of a person not breathing, Killeen Police Department public information officer Ofelia Miramontez told Army Times on Monday.

Staff Sgt. Christie Anderson, a multichannel systems operator-maintainer with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m., less than 40 minutes after the 911 call, Miramontez added.

Anderson enlisted in 2007, deploying to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn in 2011. Her awards and decorations include four Army Commendation medals, three Good Conduct Medals, an Iraq Campaign medal with campaign star and a Global War on Terrorism Medal, according to a Monday release from Fort Hood.

Miramontez could not confirm whether police suspected foul play, she said, because of the ongoing investigation.
