A suspect is in custody at Fort Carson, Colorado, after a reported shooting on post injured one person. Officials on Thursday evening said the lockdown on post has been lifted, and all gates and facilities are open. The incident is under investigation, officials said.

The shooting was reported near Bad Toelz Road in the center of the installation, according to officials. One injured individual was in stable condition; officials did not say if that person was shot, nor did they describe the nature of the person's injuries.

"Based on our assessment, there is not an active shooter situation; however, all personnel are sheltering in place and all gates have been closed to in- and outbound traffic while the situation is being investigated," officials said in a statement.

The lockdown lasted about an hour.

The incident on Fort Carson comes just one day after a lockdown at Travis Air Force Base in California. In that case, police lifted the lockdown after they found no signs of gunshots being fired at the base exchange.

Staff Sgt. Nicole Leidholm, a spokeswoman for Travis Air Force Base, said that base officials received reports of gunshots at the BX and responded. However, police found no shooter there, and no gunshots were fired.
