Wise men say ... get tickets for Elvis Week

Monarchy will reign again in Tennessee for a week in August, when thousands of people gather to pay fealty to The King.

Elvis Week 2009, the annual celebration of — do we really need to say? — Elvis Presley will take place Aug. 6-16 at Graceland and other venues.

If you have been to Elvis Week, you probably already have your tickets.

If you’ve never been, it’s nine days of contests, concerts, movies and parties capped by a Candlelight Vigil on Aug. 15. The vigil is free. You can buy tickets for everything else at www.elvisweek.com.

Some ticket packages are already sold out, so don’t procrastinate.

Organizers report that the Aug. 14 concert to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Elvis’ 1969 concert in Las Vegas is nearly sold out as well.
