JANUARY 2010 ENLISTED PROMOTION DIGEST

Soldiers who held recommended list status as of Nov. 20 through Dec. 8, and who meet or exceed the cutoff scores for January are eligible to be promoted Jan. 1 as follows:
Rank Primary Zone Secondary Zone
Sergeant to staff sergeant 72 months time in service and 10 months time in grade 71 months time in service (less than 72 months) and nine months time in grade (less than 10 months)
Specialist/corporal to sergeant 36 months time in service and eight months time in grade 35 months time in service (less than 36 months) and seven months time in grade (less than eight months)
Airborne Advantage
The airborne advantage can be applied in January to the specialties listed below. Soldiers drawing jump pay, and who are assigned to positions coded with skill qualification identifier P, S or V can deduct 65 points for scores to sergeant, and 25 points for scores to staff sergeant.

Selection Boards

* Sergeant major Promotions off the 2008 list began in December. The list is projected to last until the spring of 2010. The 2010 board meets April 20-May 11.

* Master sergeant Promotions off the 2008 list began in December. The 2009 board convened Oct. 14, and the 2010 board Oct. 26.
* Sergeant first class Promotions off the 2009 list began in March. The 2010 board meets Feb. 2-26.
