WEST POINT, N.Y. — A new crop of cadet candidates for the Class of 2019 is due at West Point.

The U.S. Military Academy is set to welcome 1,270 cadet candidates on Monday for reception day, or "R-Day." The new arrivals to the storied academy will begin six weeks of intensive training before they can enter the Corps of Cadets.

The incoming class includes 280 women, or 22 percent of the class, and 17 arrivals from other countries.
