A soldier from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, died Thursday from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, the Army announced Monday.

Pfc. Emmanuel Pickett, 20, was from Smackover, Arkansas. He was an Avenger crew member assigned to E Battery, 3rd Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.

The accident occurred near El Dorado, Arkansas.

"Pfc. Pickett was a fine soldier whose presence will be missed in our formation," said Lt. Col. Chris Brough, commander of 3rd Battalion, in a statement. "It is a tragedy that this young man, young soldier, young husband, is no longer with us, but I know his fellow soldiers, family and friends will keep his memory close to their hearts."

Pickett joined the Army in October 2013 and went on to train at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He reported to Fort Bragg and was assigned to the 108th ADA Brigade in June 2014.

His awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Parachutist Badge.

Pickett is survived by his wife, mother and stepfather.
