The Army is extending the application deadline for six warrant officer MOSs due to a significant shortage of submissions for consideration by the January board.

"If you have the prerequisite experience for these Warrant Officer MOS' and the desire to submit a packet, then your chances of being selected on the second board of FY 15 is extremely HIGH!" the Army states on its warrant officer recruiting website.

The initial deadline for submission of application packets was Nov. 21, but the deadline has been extended to Dec. 22 for these military occupational specialties:

• 150U, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operations Technician

• 352N, Signals Intelligence Analyses Technician

• 352S, Signals Collection Technician

• 353T, Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Systems Maintenance Technician

• 880A, Marine Deck Officer

• 881A, Marine Engineering Officer

Warrant officer candidate boards meet every other month at Recruiting Command headquarters, Fort Knox, Kentucky. In addition to the January board, boards also will meet in mid-May, mid-July and mid-September.

November board results

Nearly 140 service members, most of them enlisted soldiers, will be attending the Army's Warrant Officer Candidate Course in early 2015 as a result of their selection by the bi-monthly warrant officer accessions board that met in mid-November.

The selection list does not contain the names of any applicants for helicopter training.

That is because the Army recently removed MOS 153A (Rotary Wing Aviator) from the zone of eligibility for the November board so it could better align its roster of aviator candidates with training resources at the aviation center, Fort Rucker, Alabama.

Applicants who would have been considered by the November board will be considered by the board that meets Jan. 12-16.

Personnel officials anticipate that nearly 1,000 soldiers and members of the sister U.S. military services will be cleared to attend the Army's warrant officer candidate course in fiscal 2015. Upon graduation from the course, soldiers are temporarily appointed as warrant officers. Upon completion of specialty training, the officers are permanently appointed to WO1.

The application deadline for the March board is Jan. 15.
