COLUMBIANA, Ala. — The vehicle description called in to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office was unusual: A military Humvee. Driving on the wrong side of a county road late Friday night. With no headlights.

Shelby County sheriff's deputies say they stopped the vehicle around 11 p.m. They say they soon determined that the Humvee had been stolen from a U.S. Army Reserve station in Birmingham.

Shelby County sheriff's officials say the Humvee driver — 19-year-old Jacob Russell Durant of Alabaster — was arrested during the traffic stop and charged with receiving stolen property.

Durant was being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Jail records don't list an attorney for Durant.

The Humvee was released to the 5th Medical Brigade, Army Reserve Unit in Birmingham.

Birmingham police are investigating the theft.
