Officials have identified a Fort Hood cavalry scout as the teenager found unresponsive by Killeen police officers Monday night.

Officers found Pvt. Justin Antwan Lewis, 19, not breathing several blocks off post after an 11:18 p.m. 911 call of shots fired near an empty lot, according to a Friday release from the Killeen Police Department.

Lewis, who enlisted in August 2016, had been assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment since February, per a Friday release from Fort Hood.

Detectives on the case are encouraging anyone with knowledge of the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 526-TIPS (8477) or send an anonymous tip online.

The department is offering an award of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case, according to the release.
