Pfc. Devon James Tucker of Fort Hood was found unresponsive June 15 at his off-post residence in Copperas Cove, Texas, according to Army officials.

Tucker, 21, was an indirect fire infantryman assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment. He was from Wayne City, Illinois, and joined the Army in January 2016. He arrived at Fort Hood in May 2016, according to an Army release. 

He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from August 2016 to February 2017.

His awards include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and NATO Medal.

Tucker's death is under investigation by the Copperas Cove Police Department, Army officials said in the release.
