The Army has released the names of the soldiers involved in a deadly accident Friday at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Two soldiers died and six others were injured in the incident involving a military vehicle and a troop formation.

The two soldiers killed in the incident are Pvt. Ethan Shrader of Prospect, Tennessee, and Pvt. Timothy Ashcraft of Cincinnati, Ohio, the Army said in a statement Saturday.

The injured soldiers are:

  • Pvt. Emmett Foreman of Daleville, Alabama.
  • Pvt. Hannah New of Cartersville, Georgia.
  • Pvt. Benjamin Key of Livingston, Tennessee.
  • Pvt. Alan Kryszak of Clarksville, Tennessee.
  • Pvt. Cardre Jackson Jr. of Laurel, Maryland.
  • Pvt. James Foster of Macon, Georgia.

On Friday, Army officials said two of the injured soldiers suffered critical injuries in the incident.

“We are continuing to support everyone affected by this tragic event,” said Maj. Gen. Pete Johnson, commander of U.S. Army Training Center and Fort Jackson, in a statement. “I am very appreciative for all the exceptional support from the Columbia medical community. I appreciate the outpouring of support. Please keep the family members, injured soldiers and our fellow teammates affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.”

Fort Jackson is the Army’s largest basic training installation, training more than 36,000 basic training and 8,000 advanced individual training soldiers every year, according to the Fort Jackson website.

Officials did not release any additional information about the incident. It is under investigation.
