An incident at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, was resolved Thursday night after an almost 17-hour standoff, according to a press release.

A man who had locked himself in a home on post Thursday morning was found dead at 12:30 a.m.

Officials didn’t release information on whether the man was a service member, or how he died.

Authorities were first notified of the situation at approximately 8 a.m., when a concerned family member called Aberdeen’s emergency dispatch.

Authorities quickly responded to the residence on APG-North and remained on scene monitoring the situation, according to a press release.

Residents in the area were provided with an alternative location to go until the situation was resolved.

“The safety and security of Aberdeen Proving Ground residents and personnel is paramount,” officials said.
