One person is being treated for non-life threatening injuries after a shooting near the Fort Carson, Colorado, main post exchange on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Army.

Law enforcement responded to reported shots fired inside an on-post home midday, the release said.

“Our community is safe,” spokesman Brandy Gill told Army Times, after local news and social media posts described the incident as a possible “active shooter” situation.

As a precaution, area to the access was being temporarily restricted.

“Personnel are encouraged to avoid the area until further notice,” the release said.

The incident is under investigation.
