NCO promotions will see a sharp upturn in February, with 3,723 advancements to the ranks of sergeant through sergeant major being authorized for the Regular Army.

The monthly total is the biggest since January 2014 when nearly 4,000 soldiers were promoted.

The February advancements are authorized in cutoff scores and senior NCO sequence numbers issued January 22. They total 33 to sergeant major, 227 to master sergeant, 350 to sergeant first class, 1,863 to staff sergeant and 1,250 to sergeant.

The sergeant major promotions will be made from the June 2014 E9 list, and will reduce that roster to 346 names. The master sergeant advancements will reduce the December 2013 E8 list to 771 names.

The sergeant first class promotions will be made from the February 2014 E7 list, leaving 2,551 names.

Promotions to staff sergeant will go to soldiers in a group of 14,866 promotable sergeants.Under a new policy that took effect in January, all soldiers on the E6 selection list must have credit for completion of Structured Self-Development 2 to retain their promotion eligibility.

February promotions to sergeant will go to soldiers in a group of 11,144 promotable corporals and specialists.
