The officer who ultimately is nominated and confirmed for advancement to brigadier general and appointment as the 26th chief, Army Veterinary Corps, will replace Brig. Gen. John L. Poppe, who has held that statutory position since 2011.

The zone of consideration for the advisory board will include all Veterinary Corps colonels who are serving on active duty March 1.

VC colonels with approved retirement dates of June 23 and earlier will not be considered by the board.

The VC chief will oversee an Army Medical Department corps that provides food safety and security inspections for all the U. S. military services. Army veterinarians also provide care for military working dogs, ceremonial horses, working animals for Department of Homeland Security organizations and the pets of military service members.

Officer evaluation reports for the upcoming board must be received at the Human Resources Command by March 13.

Code 9 "complete-the-record" reports are authorized for this board, provided they have a thru date of Feb. 21.

My Board file, the online record review application, is now open, and will close March 18.
