Fort Hood IDs 1st Cav soldier found dead Sunday

Fort Hood, Texas, officials Tuesday released the name of a 1st Cavalry Division soldier who died Sunday from an apparent gunshot wound.

Warrant Officer Sean Michael Young, 35, died at his residence in nearby Copperas Cove, according to a news release. His death is under investigation.

Young had served with the division's 91st Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, since February 2014, the release states. He entered service in 2006 and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2009 to January 2010.

Young, of Waterloo, Iowa, had received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and Aviation and Parachutist badges, among other honors and decorations, according to the release.
