A soldier who was found dead at a North Carolina park has been identified, Fort Bragg officials announced Tuesday.

Chief Warrant Officer Tania Dunbar, an electronic missile systems maintenance warrant officer with 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, was found dead at Freeman Park in Carolina Beach, North Carolina, on Sunday, according to a release from XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg.

The Carolina Beach Police Department is investigating the circumstances of her death, according to the release.

Dunbar, 40, was a native of Santa Barbara, California. She entered active duty in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1998 as an enlisted soldier. She was appointed as a warrant officer in 2006.

Dunbar deployed to Kosovo in 2002, Iraq from 2009 to 2010 and returned from a deployment to Afghanistan in June.

Her awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (oak leaf cluster), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (oak leaf cluster), National Defense Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal (2 campaign stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal and Parachutists Badge.

Dunbar is survived by her spouse and their two children.
