The board, scheduled for June 2 to July 2, also is scheduled to assess certain AGR staff sergeants for possible involuntary separation or early retirement under the Qualitative Service Program, a force-shaping measure for reducing the size of military occupational specialties that are overstrength, or will become overstrength, as the Army moves deeper into the drawdown.

Regular Army staff sergeants are not scheduled to be given a QSP screening by this board, but rather by a future board yet to be announced by the Army.

Also, this board will not consider any NCOs for involuntary separation under the Qualitative Management Program. The QMP is a retention screening targeted at NCOs who fail to comply with service standards for behavior and/or job performance.

The QMP screening previously scheduled for Regular Army staff sergeants through sergeants major will be conducted by a board that convenes July 14-31. Active Guard and Reserve NCOs will be screened by the sergeant major selection and training board that meets Sept. 9-25.

The primary zone for the sergeant first class promotion board will include all RA and AGR staff sergeants who have completed the Advanced Leader Course and Structured Self Development 3, and who were promoted to E6 on Feb. 5, 2011, or earlier.

Staff sergeants with dates of rank of Feb. 6, 2011, through June 3, 2012, are eligible for secondary zone consideration.

The AGR retention screening will include staff sergeants who meet the promotion criteria and who hold one of nearly 20 military occupational specialties.
