FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Detectives with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Fort Bragg soldier and his wife and accused them of intentionally drowning their puppy.
The sheriff's office says 22-year old John Garrett Burrow and his wife, 20-year old Kelsey Caroline Burrow, were taken into custody on Thursday.
John Burrow is charged with felony cruelty to animals. Kelsey Burrow faces a misdemeanor charge of being an accessory after the fact.
Investigators say John Burrow tied the 8-month-old lab mix's feet together and attached them to his nose with military parachute cord. He then took the puppy to a pond near his home and threw him in.
John Burrow is being held under $10,000 bond, and Kelsey Burrow is held under a $2,000 bond. It's not known if either has an attorney.
