A soldier who deployed three times to Iraq was found dead Sunday at Fort Hood, Texas, base officials announced Tuesday.

Staff Sgt. Devin Lee Schuette, 35, had served with 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since July 2007. He enlisted as an infantryman in 1999 and later became an intelligence analyst.

Schuette had been missing since Jan. 1, local media reported. He was found in a vehicle in the base's Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area, KWTX-TV in Waco reported Tuesday.

An Army Criminal Investigation Command spokesman told the TV station that CID had no evidence of foul play but had not completed its investigation.

Schuette, of Clovis, New Mexico, made three yearlong deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, his most recent ending in June 2009, according to a Fort Hood news release. He earned five Army Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, a Combat Infantry Badge and a Parachutist Badge with Bronze Service Star, among other awards and decorations.
