Army officials on Monday released the name of a soldier who was found dead in his home near Fort Riley, Kansas.

Sgt. Laird Camron Landis, 29, was an infantryman assigned to the 1st Infantry Division's 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team. Landis was found dead Friday in his Junction City home in Junction City, Kansas, on Friday.

"Soldiers of the 'Dreadnaught' battalion are saddened by the loss of Sgt. Landis," Lt. Col. Bryan Harris, commander of 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor, said in a statement. "The battalion will support Laird's family and friends during this time of passing."

Landis, who was from Redmond, Kansas, joined the Army in February 2010. He had been stationed at Fort Riley since 2014.

Landis deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 and Kuwait in 2014.

The cause of his death has not been determined, officials said. The investigation, conducted by local law enforcement agencies, is still underway.
