Assignment opportunities are available to qualified field-grade officers who would like to serve on the academic staff of the U.S. Military Academy. But you have to act fast. The deadline is Friday.
The academy is accepting applications from officers who meet minimum qualifications to fill the following FA 47 professor positions at West Point:
• USMA Professor (FA 47A) and deputy head of the Department of Geography and Environmental Engineering – selected officer will be responsible for planning and directing undergraduate education in core and elective courses in geography, environmental science, environmental engineering and geospatial information sciences.
• Academy Professor (FA 47) – two positions open in the Department of English and Philosophy, one in literature and one in philosophy. Specific duties will include teaching courses in composition, literature or philosophy; supervision of faculty and academic programs, and curriculum development.
USMA professors serve as the senior military and academic leaders at West Point. They directly supervise academy professors and other senior military and civilian faculty.
Academy professors serve as the military and academic leaders within their respective departments.
Applicants for these positions must be in the grade of major, or above, and hold a doctorate, or be able to earn a doctorate, within three years of being selected.
Additionally applicants must have credit for completion of Intermediate Level Education or higher, and key developmental experience in assignments appropriate for their grade, basic branch or functional area.
Applications must be received by the USMA Selection Committee no later than Friday.
