The CBRN community is seeing renewed attention in the shadow of potential adversary threats. Much of Ukraine’s success against Russia has been attributed not only to roughly $17 billion in weapons, equipment and other aid the U.S. has sent over. With the rise in extreme weather events, the Army is focusing on how to proactively defend one of its most critical resources — water. An early version senses and reports wounds. Advanced versions might compress the wound automatically to avoid blood loss. Project-based learning at the academy is giving undergraduates chances to do graduate-level research. The Army is on track to deliver the actual hypersonic missiles to a unit by the end of fiscal 2023. The initiative is one of the most promising efforts the service has to address its recruiting issues. What's next? The Army has taken its Short-Range Air Defense Systems through the Baltic states as it prepares to fill out a full battalion by the end of the year. “Survey burden” can occur when populations grow tired of overly complex or frequent surveys, and it can reduce the quality or quantity of responses.
