The Army's capability set venture kicked off in 2021, with special attention paid to infantry. Additional batches of gear are expected every two years.
The preliminary work done at Project Convergence — the Army's contribution to the Pentagon's JADC2 vision — will inform how Capability Set 25 proceeds.
Army leaders have likened the capability set approach to Apple’s iPhone strategy: newer, more advanced hardware rolling out shortly after the last release.
“We’re going to see if it’s ITN equipment on there that’s giving them some issues,” the product manager said, “or if it’s the type of Stryker they have.”
