First Lt. Keegan Giles was given a once in a lifetime opportunity to be on "The Price is Right" and stand next to host Drew Carey — and he ended up winning $10,000.

The show aired Friday morning on CBS, according to a report in the Daily Press.

"Growing up, I was a big fan of the show," Giles told the Daily Press. "You never expect something like this to happen to you."

Giles, who is assigned to Fort Irwin, California, and a sailor were chosen to play against each other, bidding on a new scooter. Giles' bid of $2,201 was the closest price that did not go over, allowing him to move on and continue playing.

"I'm an avid Amazon shopper," Giles said after he made three correct guesses during a game that required him to pick out items that were labeled as being half off. His Amazon prowess paid off, as he broke down each item, considering how much he would pay for them.

"What's really funny is the night before, my wife was looking at some curling irons, and that just happened to have helped me out with the last guess," he said.

When asked to pick from the remaining boxes, numbered 10 to 15, Giles pointed to the varsity jacket he was wearing, which had the number 15 stitched on the sleeve. The jacket had been part of his uniform at West Point College and, as a member of the class of 2015, Giles saw the number as a sign. He wound up winning $10,000.

The Showcase Showdown was next. Giles and two other contestants spun a giant wheel to see who came closest to $1. Giles and the first contestant were beat by the third contestant, who managed to hit an exact total of $1.

Although he did not get to move on, Giles said he was glad he "made the most of his moment."
